The Greek mythology had been passed on by oral form until 7 BC. With the spread of Greek poet Hesiod, Homerand(which described the Troy War)and many other epics' appearance, the Greek mythology came to a really mature stage.
Afterwards, the Greek moved to Italy and transmited the fantastic culture to Rome. The ancient Rome was a really exoteric nation and they had the ability to absorb great culture quickly. Soon, the combined the Greek mythology with their own culture and they gave their Gods Roman names, and that was why Zeus also named Jupiter, Cupid was also Erotic.
The Greek mythology is just like the magic spring in those fairy tales and they nourish the English words which made so many eautiful stories come into being and strength the vitality of the English words.
